Don’t Be an Unnerved Traveler! Travel Tips For Surviving Trips! 🇮🇹

JFK to FCO

This flight is a great option for beating jet lag! Try not to eat all that food they offer you, yes I know it’s endless wine on international flights, but it does help prevent jet lag and you just might sleep. A determined pilot will have you landing at 5:30 in the morning.  By the time you deplane, use the restroom (free in the airport), hike down to customs, and make your way to ground transportation, you are wide awake and ready for an espresso! FCO is very simple to navigate and all instructions are also in English, just follow the crowds and the signs.

The airport is about a 35 minute drive into Rome, and if you have a good taxi driver, and Francisco (Franco) was good, he will engage you and point out many of the sights along the way. If you are a soccer fan, you just might build a full bromance after bonding over your favorite team and players! Bonus if you are familiar with the Italian greats, you have earned some real points and the ride will be a true experience!

Taxi drivers are a wonderful resource to gauge the climate and culture of a city and how receptive it may be to visitors in that country. Ask them where to eat, what you need to worry about, additional safety precautions you should take, and what is a must see vs what can wait. Trust me, they will give you the details you need, even if they might seem a bit insensitive. I try not to judge, I don’t live here, and what might seem like a racist comment to some, might simply be insensitivity, cultural differences or ignorance. Stay Tuned!
