Women aren’t being rude if they don’t speak much at spots designed for tourist purchases, they are usually focused on their work, and might not speak English. Do not take that personally, yes you might want to ask questions, but if they seem to shy away, it’s perfectly fine. I am always drawn to ask questions when traveling, I want to know the how and why, well everyone might not always desire to tell me and that is quite alright!
Look for opportunities to engage with women when you can, the museums and markets are a good start! But the best conversationalists I came across were the children. Not only do many speak bits and pieces of several languages, they know how to get you to purchase everything you need and a few items you don’t! Avoid all that cuteness if you are on a budget, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
