Your cell phone, or whatever camera you have been using that you are comfortable with. Unless you are a professional, spending money on lots of new camera equipment results in poor quality pictures for first time use. I learned this lesson the hard way, my very first trip to Europe resulted in lots of pictures I had to trash, my cell phone saved my life. Not only did I not know how to use it, I had enough gear to shoot a movie, it was heavy and a complete bother. Buy it after you return, test it out and be ready for the next trip!
