Der Lindenbaum~The Linden Tree

Friday Foodie Find

Der Lindenbaum ~ Authentic German Cuisine

Because I love a good Wiener 😉 Weiner Schnitzel, was the only option for me! Lightly breaded and fried crisp yet tender, don’t forget that squeeze of lemon. The red cabbage, the red cabbage, the red cabbage! I almost asked for additional cabbage because it was mildly tart yet sweet, not overcooked, delicious. The potato salad is never really needed for me, but I enjoyed it all the same.

Not feeling for a full meal, no worries, a sandwich is a menu option and don’t forget a smear of that German mustard! Beer loves, they have one of the largest selections of German beers in Texas, try something new!

The food arrives relatively quickly, unlike in Germany where it seems everything takes 45-60 minutes but you don’t mind because you know it’s cooked to order and fresh. For those concerned about social distancing, Der Lindenbaum is small and cozy, while the staff tries to distance the tables, if its full, you may feel a bit overwhelmed with the limited space. The staff did ask additional patrons to wait outside until tables were cleared. The ladies do a good job of allowing you to enjoy your meal, yet they are attentive. The prices here are very reasonable, don’t forget to leave a fat tip and tell them the Unnerved Traveler sent you!

Travel Tip

Please make sure before you head out to Fredericksburg you check the websites or social media pages for the places you plan to visit, especially restaurants, many are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Nothing worse than driving an hour to have a meal or check out a museum to find it closed. You will also see magazines about the city outside of most businesses in boxes, grab one, they are a good guide for the sights and the back pages are filled with a timeline of historical events. Hope this helps!!
