It’s Unnerved Travel Tuesday!
Looking for a great spot for a night cap, a quick girls turn up, drinks with co-workers, a tinder meet up? The Hoppy Monk is where it’s jumpin! Roll up as the sun sets and experience the night lights on the patio, gather at the expansive bar, or grab a table inside. Whatever your decision, be prepared for great drinks and appetizers that are definitely gram worthy. Not much of a drinker myself, but I do enjoy a nice Ale so the St. Bernardus was my choice, fruity aroma, a bit of bitter sweetness, and all I needed was one to feel a slight but manageable buzz. Guys, the bar menu is short of nothing, if you are a drinker, fall in love!
Not looking for a full meal I ordered the wings, guys, order the damm wings! The GOCHU I.P.A. Wings are fried crisp and coated with a savory,sweet & spicy fermented gochujang pepper sauce, this leaves the meat tender, full of flavor and a sticky crunch that makes you lick your fingers. My vegan friends, there is also an option for the cauliflower, order it, no they aren’t “chicken” because I don’t believe in acting like a vegetable is meat, but they are just as delicious, I stole a few off of another plate just for you 😘
The Macha Brussels Sprouts are my second recommendation, perfectly seared and tossed with salsa macha, topped with apples, roasted almonds and glazed with agave nectar. Personally I love Brussels Sprouts, I can eat them raw, but the smoky flavor and the hint of sweet from the apple and crunch from the almonds is a seduction I wasn’t prepared to experience. All you vegans, we can stand in solidarity on this dish!
I can’t really speak on a full meal, but I know based on the reactions and orders of others at the table , the burgers are excellent and the Shrimp and Grilled Avocado Aguachile is spectacular. Drop in, enjoy the vibe, the wait staff is hard working and very friendly so make sure you tip big and dont forget to tell them the Unnerved Traveler sent you!
