Roads Lined in Palms

Miles and miles of palm lined roads, slow speed limits, quick curves all lead you to the grasslands of Bayport Florida. Bayport is a small beach community surrounded my mini waterways, channels and creeks that all feed back into the Gulf of Mexico. From as long as I can remember I’ve called this area the swamps due to the large grasses that seem to grow above water, the lush vegetation that rocks and sways based on the wind and sun. I just knew these areas were full of gators, more like mullet and manatee.

This area is breathtaking, no it’s not the traditional sandy beach, but that’s what makes it unique. No you will not find natural sand here, in my opinion it isn’t needed, the water in most sections is shallow enough for fishing kayaking or canoeing, yet deep enough to take the boat. Pelicans seem to be strategically placed, and if you get really lucky you might see a manatee slowly floating by.

Forget about spending your life savings at Disney, drive down to Hernando County and allow a different perspective of nature to warm your heart, body and soul. Yes you will have to pay for parking and renting equipment for water sports unless you own them, but it’s well worth the savings to spend a day connecting with the land. This is one of the few places I can relax and completely “unnerve”!
